Online Asia Africa News is published by Afro Rights Media Associates, a close corporation cc registered in South Africa and was formed in 2006. Amongst its directors is Rodrick Blackman Ngoro who is also the editor of OAAN.
Ngoro is the 1997 runner-up winner of South Africa's Ruth First Courageous Journalism Award Roderick Blackman Ngoro. In April, 2004, Mr. Ngoro graduated with a Rhodes University Master of Arts degree in Journalism and Media Studies. His study was based in Cultural Studies and his topic looked at ideology and represenations. His particular focus was on how Japanese press report Africa.
He was also awarded the 2002 Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan (FCCJ) Swadesh DeRoy Scholarship to study the production of news about Africa by newspapers in Japan.
