About 50 people belonging to Kamerun Obosso or Forward Cameroon gathered outside Gallager Estates (Johannesburg) where the Pan African Parliament opened and demonstrated against their president, Paul Biya, blowing horns and dancing kwasa kwasa to keep the spirit up.
Biya has been in the presidency of Cameroon since 1962.
The crowd accused Biya of changing the constitution and crowning himself "King". They accused him of unleashing the army and killing more than 100 people for crying against high food prices. They also accused Biya of high-handedness resulting in the arrests of "thousands of our mothers and sistes" his solddiers raped.
The group of men and women demanded that Paul Biya stop a constitutional amendment which would allow him to continue as life president on a position he has held for the last 45 years.
They also rejected granting Biya amnesty for crimes committed against humanity, electoral fraud and abuse of state institutions.
The demanded the immediate release of Lapiro de Mbanga a popular musician, Joe Conscience and other Cameroonian activists arrested for protesting against rising food prices.
They also said they didn't recognize any decisions taken by Mr Biya and his hand-picked parliamentarians and that these people will face the law on the day concerned.
The group said in its memorandum handed to journalists and delegates that they didn't recognize any amnesty given by Mr Biya to any of his cronies.
My Biya, "will be held responsible for racket that his diplomats in Pretoria and other embassies are involved in world wide" the memorandum said. "We will make it our mission that Biya does not bear the title of President after 2011" they promised.
